So today we found out that Clara's fever was due to Roseola (three day fever). When the fever comes down then the baby gets a rash and isn't contagious anymore. Clara's rash started yesterday and today is all over her belly and back. It looks almost exactly like the photo in our doctor's office.
That's kind of good and bad, good because since the rash is here it means she's already better, but bad because it turns out that half of the kids at Clara's Kita have come down with fifth disease, which has an incubation period of up to three weeks. So presumably next week Clara will get fifth disease and the kids at Kita will get Roseola... I'm kind of hoping that the people at the Kita are mixed up, but based on the pictures at the doctor's office I'm not sure how you could mix up the two rashes, they're very different paterns.
In happier news, Clara is starting to say a lot of words, including several two-syllable words. The words I've noticed her saying clearly for the first time in the last week are "apple", "doctor", and "loveyou." In addition many old words are much more clear, and used more in context, like "Chester," "Cansu," "ball," and "bus." There are more, but somehow I can't think of them right now.
I'm not sure if this is the start of the "wordsplosion" that usually happens around 18 months yet. We should know within a week or two if these words just became more clear, or if she's into the phase of saying many new words every day. It will also be interesting to see how her ratio of German to English develops.
Even more new words update:
This morning when I was talking to Clara about how we give hugs to people we love she said "Mama, I wuv oo" and then gave Tanja a big big hug! That was totally awesome!
When we read one of her books that features a cat skiing Clara says "ski" (with the German pronunciation, "she"). In the same book she also says "Nil" (German for the Nile river).
Other English words that she uses often are "flower" and "Cheerio." I think Tanja said she read that "Cheerio" is in the one of the twenty most common nouns for American children to learn first!

And one of Clara's favorite words is "Müll" (garbage). When we're walking outside, she points out every garbage bin she sees.
Feel better, little Clara! I can't wait to see Clara and Jacob talking to each other. Hehe.
