Visitors

My parents are visiting right now, and that's made for lots of fun!  The kids were very excited that Grandma and Grandpa were coming.  They helped me pick up the kids from Kita on the day they arrived, and after Clara ran to give hugs Oscar did too (if big sister does it...).

Oscar is totally enamored with my dad, whom he has named "Papa" (no one else has ever called him that!).  I told Tanja before they came that I thought he'd like my dad a lot (based on how much I loved my "Gido"), but even I didn't expect that they'd get on so well!

Oscar's sure going to miss his "Papa" when he goes home in a week!  Clara has been having fun with both Grandparents.  Here she is with Grandma watching "Drei Haselnüsse für Aschenbrödel", a really fantastic German/Czech version of "Cinderella" from 1973.  Tanja and I really like it because Aschenbrödel (Cinderella) is totally sassy (she's funny, clever, rides a horse herself, hunts better than all of the men, and doesn't care what the prince thinks of her).  Clara loves it because it's just a great story, and very well played.

Today we went to Tempelhoferfeld (the old airfield of Tempelhof airport).  It was colder than expected, and Oscar lost his shoe on the S-Bahn (??!), but I think everyone still had fun.  We had a picnic on the airfield:

And later we went to a cafe for some snacks and hot chocolate:
