Tonight when we were getting ready for bed:
Chris: Clara, who's going to read to you tonight?
Clara: Who wants to read to me?
Chris: Well, both of us always want to read to you.
Clara: Then you read to me, because you can do some things better than Mommy.
Chris: Yeah? What things can I do better than Mommy?
Clara: ...
Clara: ...
Clara screws up her face in thought. 15 seconds or so go by...
Clara: Actually, everything I can think of Mommy does better than you.
As I said the other day, Oscar is really into trains right now. There's a German song that goes:
Choo-choo-choo die Eisenbahn
Wer will mit zur Oma fahren?
Alleine fahren mag ich nicht,
drum nehm ich mir den Oscar mit.
(choo choo goes the train
who wants to ride with me to Grandma's house?
I don't enjoy riding alone
so I will take Oscar with me)
Oscar loves to sing this song. He sings it every time he sees a train, when he plays train, and just at random. The way he sings it is:
Choo-choo! Oma! Alleine!
What are "Cahs"?
The other day Clara was talking about "Cahs", and I had no idea what that was. When I asked her she said that they were cars and trucks with faces. I said, "oh, you mean 'Cars'?" (understanding she probably meant the animated cars from Disney/Pixar, she's never seen the movie.) Clara said "No! CAHS, not CARS!" I got then that she learned of "Cars" from her German friends, who obviously pronounce them "Cahs".
