Clara loves to read!
Last weekend we took the train to Rostock to visit our friends Jaana and Mikko and their son Sampo.

Sampo is just a few months younger than Clara, and Clara really really really loves him! Jaana and Mikko have a double stroller, and Clara had a blast riding in it with Sampo:
I love the crossed hands in the second photo above, it's a very "Clara" pose. While we were visiting we took a local train late one afternoon to the beach at nearby Warnemünde. Even though the sun was setting, so it was a bit cold, the kids had a great time playing in the sand!
We're going to Stralsund for Easter this weekend, which is not far from Rostock. So before we left we discussed the possibility of having Jaana, Mikko, and Sampo come for an Easter Egg hunt. Clara was around while we talked about it, but it was just idle talk, and we didn't actually tell the kids that's what was going to happen. Well, on Monday I heard Clara tell Tanja "Oma's going to hide eggs, and Sampo and I are going to find them!" Since we weren't sure if they could come I was a little annoyed, and told Tanja I thought she shouldn't have told Clara that Sampo was coming. Tanja was surprised, because she thought that I was the one who had told Clara that! So even though Clara was busy playing while we had been talking she had clearly been paying attention to everything we said! Little ears, I tell you!
Another "joke" by Clara, this time a pun: She's got a plate that has a bunch of animals on it, chickens, cows, sheep, etc. The other day at breakfast Clara pointed at the sheep and said "Mama, kannst du mir ein Schaflied singen?" (Mommy, can you sing me a sheep song?) The pun is that in German Schlaflied means lullaby, so "kannst du mir ein Schlaflied singen?" is a phrase that Clara uses reasonably often. If Schaflied was a real word it would mean a song about a sheep.
Two cute kiddie posters to tide you over until Easter:
