Here's the game I came up with: I drew different colored circles (Clara likes to color them in), and then I tried to explain to Clara to find the circle for each crayon she took and color that circle. She did really well (although as you can see, she tried to then color all other circles with whatever crayon she had at the moment, too).
The words Clara learned best were "lila" (purple) and "grĂ¼n" (green). She liked saying the word "lila" ("lee-la"), too, and after a while she ran to the bookshelf to first get the book called "(Kinder-)Lieder" ("lee-da", (children's) songs), and then a book about fish (and their colors) that has the line "Der Krake ist lila" (the octopus is purple). Smart girl.
Now for some other cute pictures from last week. First, with Oma figuring out a water fountain at the zoo:
Second, holding hands with a little boy at the playground (the little boy was so sweet - he just walked up to Clara and took her hand to take her for a walk!):
And finally with her super-cool sunglasses on the walk home:
Clara went back to day care (Kita) today and she did so well! She didn't seem upset at all at drop-off, even though many kids were a little unsettled today because of the long break. We've been telling Clara for all of last week that she would be going back. And strangely, this kind of mental preparation really really helps her adjust, it seems (even though every time we asked whether Clara would go to Kita this week she answered "No.").
Oh, and did you notice Clara's new pigtails in the drawing photos? Maybe we'll have some better pictures soon...

What a cute picture with the little boy at the park!
I'm glad Clara went back to Kita with no problems. Last week we just started trying to leave Gavin with the childcare at our church during the service. He survived for about 25 minutes before having a meltdown--we'll see if he lasts longer next week!
