Last Saturday we went to a wedding party for one of Tanja's friends from her year in China. (The wedding was months ago, this was the Berlin celebration.) Clara was dressed particularly nicely, of course! Here she is at home with her "twin," and then two pictures with us at the party.
On the way home we walked for a bit along the Spree river (near where Tanja works). I think it was around 9pm or so when this photo was taken - I love the long summer nights!!
One of Clara's new favorite words is "tuck." She loves being tucked in at night, and she often takes her toys and tucks them into our bed during the day. After the photo is a video of Clara tucking in a little stuffed bear. I love the little goodnight kiss she gives it! (In the video she's saying "night night" over and over.)
Clara is starting to talk a lot more. We can understand a lot more of her words, and in addition she also talks nonsense all day long. To me one of the most surprising words she says is "taxi." She actually knows the difference between taxis and regular cars! One day I was pointing out the difference between cars and vans, when I noticed a taxi van coming down the street. I pointed to it and asked "Clara, what's that?" and she answered "Taxi!" I was totally astonished! Since that time we've tested this several more times, and she really does know the difference between cars and taxis!
On Tuesday morning Clara slept really long, and we just opened her door hoping that she'd wake up gently from our making breakfast sounds. Louie walked into her room, and when Clara woke up we heard her talking to him. The first things she said were "Katze.... Lulu... Meow!" I ran to get the camera and took a few videos, but none were as good as when she first woke up. Here is a video where you can hear her saying "Lulu" over and over. (I'm not sure what she's saying at the start of the video. Chester? Doctor?)
The last video isn't as exciting as the two above, so I'm just going to link to Clara playing with her duck and dragon pull toys rather than embedding it.
