Going to the playground:
When we first put Clara on slides we helped her slide down forward, but over time she started sliding on her belly, and then eventually developed this "backwards" slide style, which she always uses now.
Clara often exclaims "Ja!" now when we ask her if she wants something that she likes, like when we ask if she would like a banana, or if she wants to go to the park. She also often claps her hands after she says "ja!" because she's so excited. I love at the start of the video how she claps her hands in anticipation of the slide! Too bad I didn't start filming a few seconds earlier!
Last weekend we went to see if a couch we liked at a nearby furniture store was still available (it wasn't). Clara had a lot of fun trying out all of the couches and this awesomely regal chair:
While we didn't get anything at that furniture store, we recently went to IKEA, and here's a photo of Clara working at her new table:
At IKEA we also bought Clara a figure eight train set. I've since been back to buy an expansion pack, which is clearly more for us than it is for her at this point...
"choo choo" was one of Clara's new words this week.
I think that Clara had some kind of mild virus last week. I saw her virus and raised it tonsillitis, and on Friday she called me on the tonsillitis. It was "lucky" that I had been to see the doctor and knew that I had tonsillitis, as on Friday morning when she had a bit of a fever we decided to play it safe and see the doctor rather than go into the weekend with the possibility that she had picked it up from me. The big downside was that we cancelled a car we had booked to go to a wedding out of town this weekend, and when Clara did ok on Friday and seemed pretty good on Saturday it was too late - all the car rental places were out of cars. While it was a real shame to miss the wedding it did mean that Clara got to have a short visit with her Oma, who happened to be passing through town!
On Friday our first set of summer visitors arrive, we're all looking forward to that!
