Skiing in Seefeld (1)

Oh my... life is just way too busy right now and getting in the way of posting here in a timely manner.

In the first week of February we went on a trip to Seefeld, Austria, for skiing. The weather was pretty mixed (basically it was way too warm) but there was still just enough snow for skiiing. We all went skiing (my mom came as well). Clara took 5 days of ski lessons - 4 hours per day. Oscar was in a "Zwergerl"-ski class, with 2 hours of skiing in the morning, and then lunch and day care in the afternoon.

He really loved skiing with us, but didn't want to go to the ski lessons. The thing that bothered him most was that they put a movie on for the kids after lunch - and he's so so scared of movies. Any movies, really. So for the last two days I picked him up right after lunch so he didn't have to see the movie and could spend some time with me. Oscar really took to the skies quite naturally, he can walk around on them and mostly get down the baby hills pretty ok.

Clara on the other hand, was SUPER excited about skiing on this trip. Even before we went, she remembered everything about her lessons from the years before. I was amazed about all the exercises she remembered - she showed them all to us before the trip. She got sorted into ability group 3 with other kids about her age (some older, some younger), and they went up the t-bar right away. She did really really well. Last year, she just hadn't been able to hold a snowplow enough to stop herself on an incline, and she only started to do some turns. Well now she was doing them awesomely. The best thing was though how much she loved skiing. Even when cold rain started on the last afternoon, she kept going for another hour or so until she was completely soaked and freezing. On the second to last day, the ski school had a little slalom course that they did a race on. Each class competed within itself for first, second, ... place. The kids really loved it, and they got a medal and a certificate for it. Here's Clara's bottom part of the race:

So the kids spent most of their days in class (morning till 4pm) and then we usually made dinner and just spent a quiet evening in our nice apartment. Everybody was wiped in the evenings so this was enough activity for us!

I've already forgotten most of the details of the trip, including how the Austrians didn't endear themselves to us (I guess some people recommend going all the way to South Tirol into Italy...) But I wanted to share these videos of the kids skiing that we uploaded already. We also have a bunch of nice photos but we have to find the time to get them on here.
