Walking Oscar

People! We just can't catch up with all the photos and events from this summer! We haven't even shown any pictures from Oscar's birthday yet, and he's almost 13 months by now... so stay stuned.

But this video is too great not to put up right away. Oscar was practicing his walking skills on a trampoline at the playground today! The trampoline is really uneven and slanty, too.

It would be nice if Oscar could perfect his walking soon. It's getting pretty cold here outside, at least if you're crawling on the playground in the sand and on the ground. And in Oscar's daycare group only two of the five children so far (they are getting two more in the next weeks) can walk yet. But walking always makes the kids happier there, because they can get around better and don't have to be frustrated so much (for example, when the bigger kids come and take their toys away).

Oscar is doing really well at daycare, and generally very happy when we get near the building. It's nice that his group is small, that they have two teachers during the core hours of the day (one of them is Clara's previous teacher Kathrin!), and they even have two rooms for the baby group - so they can keep one room for eating and nap time, and the other one is uncluttered by furniture and set up for crawling and playing. All the children are between one year and one-and-a-half old, which is also nice. We have our first parents' meeting on Monday, and Kathrin made some videos of the kids during the day. I can't wait - that should be very cute!

As you can see, Oscar sleeps well at Kita, and now mostly only takes one nap per day when he's there. They now put a used t-shirt of mine on the soft pillow in the picture and Oscar just snuggles into it on his mat and falls asleep. The only sad thing right now is that the separation from me in the morning is still hard for him and he cries very hard each morning when I drop him off. Usually he calms down pretty quickly though, or can be distracted with a cracker - unless another child is crying, to which Oscar is very sensitive. I'm happy though that he is having fun - I usually drop him off just before 9am and pick him up at 3:30pm, and when I pick him up he points to all the toys and wants to show them to me.
