On Friday we bought a new toy for the family, a Chariot bike trailer to transport the kids.

We have been coveting one of those for a while now - they're pretty often-seen here in Berlin, and it seems a cool way for the kids to get around. But, they're incredibly expensive, too... especially with all the add-ons one needs. But when we got a very generous present from my grandparents for the kids (thank you!!!) we decided that it was time to get a Chariot.
The great thing is that Oscar can now go on bike rides with us, even though he is still so little. There's a little baby seat which he can use until he can safely sit up by himself (and wear a helmet). In addition to the bike attachment, there's a "buggy" (i.e., stroller) adaptation for the Chariot, which we used to go shopping on Saturday. You can see it in the picture above.
Also, as you can see, being in the Chariot is pretty much the only time so far that Clara has had unmitigated access to her brother all by herself - and she's using that as much as possible! She held Oscar's hand all through the first couple of rides, and usually rests her hand on his head or otherwise cuddles him whenever they're riding.

Yesterday, we took the Chariot on a longer ride for the first time, going back to Schloss Charlottenburg for the day. We got out of the house really late, since we only got up at 8:30 (both kids like to sleep in I guess). But we took a picnic and so were in no rush to get home.

At the playground, Oscar enjoyed a little bit of sunlight while Clara played.

... and on the way home, Clara took a little nap, too:
