Der Bauch ist rund!

We can't believe how long the little guy has managed to stay inside! Tanja has been taking it really easy (well... as easy as she can let herself) since we've gotten back to Berlin. On Friday it will have been two weeks, and on Sunday the baby will have reached 37 weeks! Tanja has had contractions start and go away again a few times since we've been back, so we're still walking on eggshells. But he's old enough now that it shouldn't be so difficult if he's born, and from tomorrow we should probably be allowed to bring him into the world in a birth center rather than the hospital. Way to go Tanja!

In the two weeks between our last two checkups (during the time she was in the hospital) Tanja actually lost five pounds! The hospital food might have had something to do with it, but it might also have been because the medicine made her heart race and her hands shake. In any case, somehow she didn't lose it from the belly, which grew a normal amount. Check it out!

Clara's Oma and Opa each came to help us out during this time when we were totally sure the baby was coming. This suited Clara just fine! Here are several photos that her Opa took over the last few days:

Underduck!

Tonight (partly to celebrate how far Tanja has made it) Clara's Opa treated us to dinner at a Chinese restaurant. They had special "kids chopsticks" that are tied together with a spring at the end, and Clara loved eating with them! We were floored at how well Clara managed with them. Neither of us though she would be able to do it, but after two or three tries she was eating like a pro!

The title of the blog post comes from a German ad for Shrek 4. I didn't know anything about the movie, and from the photo and caption I assumed that somehow Antonio Banderas had got himself pregnant. Well... can you blame me?

Yay! Tanja looks great, Clara looks old and accomplished with those chopsticks, and I'm so glad that the little man is still inside. I've been checking your blog obsessively - I can't wait to hear the next update. ;)
