More Birthday Fun!

We celebrated Clara's birthday for the third time with her German family (Oma, Opa, uncle Robert, and Aunty Nadine) the weekend after her birthday. By this time Clara was a real pro at opening presents and blowing out candles! I'm really looking forward to Christmas!

More cake!

Clara really loves the toys she got for her birthday! Here she is serving everyone Cocoa with her pretend cups and saucers:

The next week included "Lanternfest", an evening when all of the kids in the neighborhood go out after dark on a parade while carrying lanterns. Clara's group at the Kita made a very cute hedgehog lantern. Clara liked walking down the street with the lantern, but didn't like the parade. I think suddenly being in a big group of unfamiliar people in the dark was a bit too much, maybe she'll like it more next year. Here are Clara and Tanja on the way there:

The next weekend we had a visit from friends from Philadelphia (although they're now "from" Rostock). Here are Jaana and Sampo with Tanja and Clara:

And then Clara and Sampo at the park:

The last time we posted, Clara was just starting to say complicated sentences. Now she's saying them all the time! Her language skills have changed dramatically since we were in Canada a few months ago, so everyone we saw then should come visit and talk to Clara for yourself!

Clara has picked up a really funny saying that she uses when she's frustrated. When something is bothering her she often says "man oh man oh man oh man oh man..." or sometimes just "man oh man!" I think one of the adults in the Kita must say "man oh man!" a lot!
