blog darkness

To explain the long pause in posting: in the past few weeks Tanja has had her US visa extension approved, she's gotten a job in Berlin, we searched for and found an apartment, I got my work visa, I applied for and have received paid paternity leave (for the next three months) from the German government, Tanja started work (before we had the apartment!), and we have now started moving in. We don't have internet yet, so it'll be a while before we post again regularly (I'm in an internet cafe right now).

After a frightening blitz of a search the last apartment we looked at turned out to be a fantastic place in a great neighbourhood less than ten minutes from Tanja's work. And the most important part for you is that it has a huge guest room with a balcony! So I hope that after finishing this blog post you all head over to kayak to figure out when you're coming to visit!

We owe a huge debt of gratitude to Robert and Nadine who put us up for multiple days at least four times in the last month or so. Also to Ralf, who also let us stay at his place in Berlin and has lent us a bunch of stuff. Finally, of course, also to Clara's Oma and Opa. They are here this weekend cleaning the apartment, helping us set things up, and lending us their car for trips to Ikea and Möbel Höffner!

Looking forward to seeing some of you in a few weeks in Philly, and all of you at some point in our guest room!
