Clara's parents, foolishly believing that they had weeks and weeks left before they met her, were totally unprepared (in the material sense) for her arrival. Luckily for her, they had at least bought a carseat to bring her home and a co-sleeper for her to snooze in the week before she came. But she had almost no infant clothes, no receiving blankets, no hats, no socks, and - horror of horrors - no diapers!
Luckily for Clara her friends came to the rescue. Susy and Nancy visited her in the hospital and brought clothes, blankets, diapers, and a bunch of food for Clara's mom and dad. Olivia stayed with Clara's mom in the hospital, and knit her a beautiful blanket (which was supposed to be a bit longer than it ended up being). Yehuda drove Clara to the hospital, and gave her a baby book to fill in all the details of growing up.
After Clara came home from the hospital lots more friends helped her out. Ian, Erin, Olivia, Yehuda, Lukasz, Keelan, and Jamie kept bringing food for her mommy and daddy, and they as well as Joan and Alexis gave Clara lots of clothes! Monica and Damien sent clothes from France to make sure Clara stayed in touch with her inner European, and Aunty Sue and Uncle Scott sent clothes from Canada for when she's bigger (Clara is planning on visiting this summer!). Adding all of this to the beautiful and stylish jacket and cap Beatrice knit for Clara, and the clothes that Ute, Elise, and Aunty Rita and Uncle Michael had wisely sent her parents in advance, Clara now has enough clothes and blankets to fill two drawers!
With all of this help, and with the generous gifts that Clara's Aunty Doreen, her grandparents, and her great grandparents sent, Clara will have clothes, blankets, a stroller, slings, diapers, and health insurance for months to come!
