7th Anniversary!

Today is our 7th wedding anniversary!  At the moment Tanja is at the zoo with the kids while I recover from a stomach bug at home. But since I'm doing better, here are some recent pictures!

Clara got a haircut at a hairdresser a few weeks ago, and Oscar got his curly locks trimmed by Tanja while Clara and the iPad distracted him.

When we first got to the hairdressers with Clara, a woman was having her hair blow dried, and it was quite loud.  When the drier went off we could hear the radio, and Oscar exclaimed "Car singing!" (he only knows the radio from Oma and Opa's cars). At home, he's really into Raffi CDs at the moment.

Oscar can really explain complicated things now, we've got a few videos that we'll hopefully put up soon.  His separation of English and German is much more distinct than Clara's was at this age, probably because we almost never speak German at home now.  It's amazing to see him completely switch over when his Oma or Opa come visit, since we so rarely hear him speak German. With the better ability to express things he has less reason for frustration, but we still have scenes like this on occasion:

(I think Clara wasn't giving him something...)

Last weekend we had a wonderful visit from our Finnish friends from Rostock, and we had an advance celebration of Clara's birthday (since Sampo can't come to her party next weekend).

We're starting to have some cold weather here, but during the visit we had some really nice playground weather.

Clara is REALLY excited about her birthday.  Three weeks ago she couldn't possibly wait three weeks, but today she said "if I can wait sixteen days then I can definitely wait five days!"  Last night she asked me what day it was, and when I told her Saturday she said "then tomorrow will be the last weekend day that I'll EVER be four years old!".  Here are the invitations she made for her friends from the Kita:

She also made an extra card for her teacher, where she asked Tanja to write inside that when kids are bad they should get to draw pictures rather than sitting with nothing to do on the bench outside of the room.  Since Clara isn't one to get in trouble, we're guessing she's just agitating for social justice.

A few weeks ago we had a nice visit at Oma's house:

Proof that we didn't bring the wrong baby home from the birth house (as if that was possible):

Oscar sleeping kneeling on floor with his body on his bed - Tanja used to sleep like this all the time when she was little.

Last weekend Oscar had his first day ever without a nap, and he repeated it on Friday and Saturday.  Today he was so tired at lunchtime that he almost fell asleep into his soup! He's also now sleeping in the bottom of the bunk bed instead of his converted crib bed.  Our little guy isn't so little anymore!
