Living with Clara and Oscar is pretty funny right now. The things that Clara says are just so hilarious... she often shows great creativity, imagination, and fun with words. What she says often makes us laugh (some of these stories are old hats for FB friends):
Chris just went into Clara's room (it's 9:30pm and she's supposed to sleep) because he heard a loud THUMP. Chris: "Clara, are you ok?" Clara: "No, I hurt my bum!" - "How did you hurt your bum?!" Clara: "I was standing on my head!"
While I was cooking dinner, Clara was just playing in the kitchen, partly watching me. Suddenly she spells: "B... O... S... C... H... Mommy this says B-O-S-C-H!" I answer "Wow, that's great, sweetie! And what does that spell?" - "Fridge!"
(Clara knows pretty much all the letters, big and small. I have an iPad app where she has to identify the correct letter from a group of ten, and she barely makes any mistakes.)
While taking off her pants to change into shorts, Clara sang: "Pants-down ladies sing this song, doo-dah, doo-dah..."
Another time at 10pm Clara was chatting with herself in her room. We went to listen and heard "... twenty-seven, twenty-eight, twenty-nine. Och, I counted SO MUCH!" Then she started again: "Zero, one, two, ..." and after "ten" kept going "twenty, thirty, forty, fifty, sixty, seventy, eighty, ninety, twenty-one, twenty-two..."
Yet another time Chris went in to find Clara sitting in the dark on a chair next to her bed, with her stuffed turtle on her lap. Chris: "What are you doing in the chair, you're supposed to be sleeping?" Clara: "I'm looking out the window!" (the window is about two-three meters away) Chris: "But the curtains are drawn, you can't see anything!" - "Yeah, but there's a little crack! I'm looking through that"
As for Oscar, he's still a sweet sweet baby. He's finally figuring out that we're still doing fun things while he sleeps and so is starting to resist his naps, but he's still really easy compared to some other kids (hrm, hrm). Unfortunately he has also reverted to his early-rising habits and has gotten up at 5am for the last few days - that doesn't combine well with Clara staying up past 10pm almost every night. Last Tuesday I went to bed at 8pm - I haven't felt this energized in weeks!
Oscar is still crawling crawling crawling everywhere, trying to get at all the toys (and especially things that aren't toys like shoes, electrical cords, trash cans, etc.) He doesn't especially enjoy sitting, but now he's actually quite good at it. Except that he doesn't really want to. But when laying on the floor he sometimes rests just on one elbow (while playing with the other hand) which makes me think that he'll learn to sit up soon enough - it looks like he's almost halfway there.
Oscar has also started babbling a little, and talking to his toys. It's very very cute. Both kids have been eating lots (must be a growth spurt). We've been giving Oscar more and more table foods if they are easy to eat for him. He really liked yogurt with a finely cut strawberry inside - he made a sourpuss face (no picture, sorry!) but kept opening his mouth for more. I also gave him his first ice cream! (yogurt flavor - I figured it's almost like real yogurt anyway?)
It's Spring in Berlin - so the funnest times of the year are just starting! We've been going places with the bike trailer, and I just heard that it's getting really warm next week - apparently starting May 1st the Plötzensee lake will be open... Come visit! Spring and Summer are the best seasons in Berlin.

Yesterday Clara asked me: "How old is the Easter bunny?"
