October photos

Since I went back to work on September 23 there has been only one post, by Tanja. I hope when Oscar looks back at the blog years from now and sees how little we wrote compared to when Clara was born he'll appreciate that you have a lot less free time with two children than you do when you only have one! In any case, future Oscar, you should know that in the last month you've been having a lot of fun, and your parents have been too focused on you to write blog posts!

It's been a very busy month, both for me at work (being a light pollution researcher means occasionally going to work at 9:30pm...) and with all kinds of wonderful visiting! Here was Clara preparing for two special visitors from Canada:

Grandma and Grandpa, professional baby snugglers!

Highlights of their visit (besides having someone to help with Oscar's "fussy period" every evening) were my Birthday/Canadian Thanksgiving and going for a tour of the city center with our friend Silvan. My Mom and Tanja cooked a super dinner, and somehow I didn't think of taking a photo until we had demolished it:

Clara is really into having a little brother! This was a priceless moment:

But of course, real babies are more fun than pretend ones!

This afternoon we took out the kite I got for my birthday and headed to Berlin's new premier kite flying location, the former Tempelhof airport, which is right inside the city. We'd never been there before, and today was a perfect day! I've never seen so many kites in the air at once, imagine this photo below, but with another 120 degrees of similar kite frequency!

Clara actually flew the kite for about a minute, but unfortunately we didn't get a photo of it. Also, our kite wasn't quite robust enough for the wind today, and it broke right before this photo was taken (that's why I'm holding the string up).

Funny Clara saying of the day: "Daddy and I are bilingual, and Mommy is mountainlingual."

IMG_7498.JPG is such a lovely pic. I have one like that with my big brother and me, and it's my favourite.
